OBJECTIVE
Develop an abstract visual and typographic narrative that draws inspiration from the structure and essence of a traditional three-line Japanese haiku.

CHOSEN POEM
"Don't weep, insects – lovers, stars themselves, must part."
- Kobayashi Issa
SKETCHES
In response to the haiku, the guiding question became: How can its essence be conveyed without directly revealing its meaning? This inquiry served as the foundation for a series of explorations, shaping both ideation and the sketches that followed.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENTS
During the iterations, a distinct visual style was refined by framing key sections and highlighting phrases, allowing each part of the content to carry its own weight and rhythm.
FINAL BOOKLET
While designing the haiku booklet, I focused on capturing the emotional weight of a personal loss—the death of a close friend. By isolating and expanding moments from the cover imagery, each  page became a quiet reflection, transforming abstract visuals into a space for remembrance and meaning within the haiku.
